New Puzzles, Laser Kinks and Doctor's Orders
Stop by and say hi!
We’ll be at Nationals in Atlanta March 27-29 with stickers and giveaways. Puzzle Jam Inc. will be sharing our booth and have giveaways as well- so lots of chances to win something. Steven (husband) and Han (youngest kid who runs the laser) will be there as well. Janell Amely will be there representing Puzzle Jam.
New Puzzles
I hope to get these listed on the website asap, but things are taking a bit longer to get done right now. So until then, here’s a quick peek at the new laser cut puzzles (not including the 3 listed under Kinks.) I’m also working on a Rosie the Riveter puzzle called Riveting Strength and a map puzzle called Stolen Lands.

Heron. I painted this the summer we moved to this house on the lake. It has an irregular edge, drop outs and 2 multi-piece frog figures. It’s also a Double Puzzle- there are pieces hidden in the puzzle to make 2 additional frogs. Pieces are on the smaller side and cut is more reminiscent of hand-cut. Curl, knob and frog toes connectors.

Hare Among the Plants by Hans Hoffman 1582. This is another Double Puzzle. Find the correct pieces to make a large butterfly. Pieces are larger than in the Heron and less of a hand-cut puzzle cut. Connectors are knobs and arch shapes.
Working out Kinks
So, so many kinks. I knew laser cut puzzles were a lot more complex than pushing a few buttons, but every time we worked out one problem, another would rear its ugly head. I really appreciate the help we’ve gotten from Thunder Laser, 3 Cat Max, Rebel Puzzles, Lighthouse Puzzles, Creative Corners and Stumpcraft Puzzles. The puzzle community is so supportive!
We (fingers and toes all crossed) have finally worked the kinks out so that I can list the larger puzzles for sale. I have 5 that didn’t pass quality control that are available at 50% off plus shipping that I’m only making available to people who read this newsletter. One shipping charge for your whole order. If you want to throw in a pocket puzzle, just let me know. (Ordering only a pocket puzzle on the website will trigger another shipping fee.)
![]() Concerto Spirituale. 1773 | This puzzle had a little piece (less than 1/4”) of the image tear when removing the masking. The tear was along the edge, so not in a focal part of the image. I recolored it and it isn’t very noticeable. Art historians think this image shows 3 German musicians performing in the UK: Bach or Abel on the viol de gamba, Fisher on the oboe and Punto on the French horn. Absolutely had to make a puzzle from this since Han plays de gamba and has played a lot of Bach. Expect more music inspired puzzles in the future. Figure pieces are music notes. The cut pattern contains pieces that are part music note and part puzzle piece. The connectors are hook and knobs. 124 pieces. 7.25 × 8.5” $50 retail/ $25 + $10 shipping for this repaired copy. |
![]() Portrait of Felix Feneon. Artwork by Paul Signac 1890. | There are 2 of these with a little scorching in a few places. The image is pretty busy so it isn’t incredibly noticeable. The figure pieces in this puzzle are inspired by Keith Haring and the cut design is reminiscent of hand-cut puzzles. 195 pieces. 10.5 × 8.5” $60 retail/ $30 + $10 shipping for a scorched copy |
![]() Garden Friends. Artwork by The Hawk and The Oak. Check out her shop for everything from art prints and cards to stickers. | This image comes from a watercolorist in Missouri and was inspired by her daughter’s beehives. It’s a Double Puzzle with pieces to make a small cosmos with bee about to land. There are additional bee and honeycomb figure pieces. Knob and curl connectors like many of my hand-cut puzzles. 327 pieces 9.75 × 12.5” $100 retail/ $50 + $10 shipping for a scorched copy. I have 2 copies with slight scorching on the wings. |
Doctor’s Orders
As some of you know, I have ME/CFS (aka Chronic Fatigue Syndrome). I had it under control, but apparently, I overdid it in the late summer & early fall and it’s been slowly getting worse ever since. Unfortunately, the only fully effective treatment is absolute rest. This is why I’m so far behind on hand-cut puzzle orders- I just don’t have enough energy to work as much. For that reason, I’m temporarily suspending orders for hand-cut puzzles. I’ll let you know when I’m able to take orders again. In terms of the laser puzzles, Han handles all of the production, so I can manage my jobs from the recliner, they just take longer.
Plant Corner
Despite not watering things enough this winter, nothing has died (yet). I did pick up a herb 3 pack because I’ve wanted a eucalyptus and can always use another rosemary. Apparently they were potted in something that really holds moisture, so I have inadvertently overwatered them. Hoping they dry out in the sunroom and survive.
Mid-February and I’m on my 3rd big bunch of daffodils.
