Spring has Sprung

My grandmother loved daffodils and shared them with everyone. I adore their aroma and bright pop of sunshine, so I bring all of them inside to enjoy. Ours are almost bloomed out now. Just the late-blooming miniatures left. I have for the first time, caught up on orders so I took a little time to cut a couple puzzles that I’ve been wanting to cut for awhile. As always, y’all get first dibs as newsletter subscribers (thank you.) If you’re interested, just message me.

Daffodils by Tanigami Konan

In keeping with spring, this daffodil image has been in my list for a long time. I really debated the best way to cut it. To cut all of the white background away meant I had to keep the border. It’s 13 × 9” and 328 pieces. Knob connectors. No figure pieces. Color line cutting. $350.

Rabbits by Fritz Gareis

Expect to see more Fritz Gareis images. In fact, I have a larger version of this ready to cut. This puzzle is 5.25 × 5.5” and 84 pieces. Earlets and split earlets with some color line cutting. $80. Comes in a box without an image. If you prefer the larger size that is yet to be cut (and thus may not arrive before Easter) let me know.

TinTin puzzles

Faster, TinTin! Herge

TinTin in the Land of the Soviets is now copyright free in the US. My kids LOVED TinTin. They have all of the books, the movie, the figurines….

The issue, though, is that the original is in black and white. Photoshop and lots of hours to the rescue. Pictured above is the smaller version at 4.5 × 2.25” and 61 pieces. No figure pieces. Earlets and split earlets. Small pieces. $50. Comes in a box without an image. I have a second of this size ready to cut.

The larger (5.5 × 12”) Faster, TinTin! puzzle below has an everything cut. Some people call this creative cut, but I think all the methods require creativity. Color line cutting. TinTin and Snowy figures (note Captain Haddock and most of the other characters are still under copyright). 254 pieces. $200.

I have another TinTin image almost ready to go. I may work on the coloration a little more. Note that I did change the armbands to fit the current political situation. This is available from 5 × 5” up to 13 × 13”.

Subscription Boxes

Lastly, I want to show you the subscription puzzles I cut for Jan. and Feb. The next quarter starts in April, so you need to order the Spring Subscription box now if you are interested. Each box contains a small puzzle and a treat. So far, I’ve been able to cut unique puzzle images connected to the theme for each person. Over the course of the quarter, each puzzle has a different style cut. The boxes do not have an image on them, so you only have the title to go by. Pieces tend to be small. If you are interested in the subscription but have specific needs, like larger pieces, just let me know. Note that I limit subscription boxes to 5 per quarter.

Puzzle Jam

Puzzle Jam has taken much of my time this year. We are planning a virtual conference, Puzzle Jam Global for April 26. Get your free ticket here. We’re also planning the in person event in Greenville, SC, Sept 5-7 and opening up the membership again at the end of April.

Garden Corner

No image, because sticks are sad, despite how much my kids loved them when they were little. I thought I was doing a great job when I brought most of my plants inside from the sunroom at the start of winter. Unfortunately, I didn’t account for the dry heat blowing on them. I lost my fiddle leaf fig and pitcher plant. They probably would have been fine in the sunroom since it doesn’t drop below 40 out there. Oh well. Live and learn. We’ve gotten garden beds ready and hope they’ve lain fallow long enough (a couple years) that the root knot nematodes are gone. Will be planting lots of basil and some tomatoes soon. Haven’t decided about cucumbers and okra.
